A Beast’s Paradise

For an orphan, Lee Goyo appeared to be well off at first glance. Saved along with the prosecutor's son in a kidnapping 14 years ago, she was adopted by former prosecutor Lee Uitaek. But her life was far from sweet—it was a nightmare that would not end. In order to be able to stay by Lee Uitaek and his son's side, she became little more than their puppet and pawn.

"Lee Uitaek told me to seduce you."
"If I provoke you, will you respond?"
"What do you think we’ll spend the night doing?"
“…I guess I was too idealistic. In the end, it’s just another meaningless night.”

In order to survive, Goyo had to keep proving her worth—be it in the form of manipulating Kwon Jaeheon, the president of KJ Finance, who she had never even met.

"Lee Goyo, what is it you truly want?"
"Will you hear me out?"
"Stop playing games and tell me what you really want."
"What I want is… freedom."

No matter how hard she struggled, she could not free herself from the clutches of her tormentors.

"Promise me something. Swear you’ll save me from them."

She was ready to take the risk, even if it involved eating a poisoned apple.

"I told you I’d give it to you, even if it destroyed me. Don’t you believe me?"

In that moment, the dangerous man standing before her didn't seem like a threat, but a savior offering her a glimpse of paradise.
